Innovation and Development of Electric Vehicle Frames

In recent years, the electric vehicle industry has developed rapidly, and the frame, as a core component of electric vehicles, has attracted much attention for its technological innovation and development.

Electric vehicle frames mainly come in two structures: tubular frames and plate frames. Tubular frames are made of welded steel pipes, characterized by their simple structure, light weight, and high strength, making them suitable for sports and high-performance electric vehicles; plate frames, on the other hand, are formed by stamping steel plates and then welding, offering good rigidity and stability, commonly used in electric vehicles for urban commuting and daily use.

In terms of materials, steel is a common frame material, known for its low cost, high strength, and good machinability, but the grade of steel used varies among electric vehicles at different price points. Mid to high-end electric vehicles often use aluminum alloy frames, which are lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and have good heat dissipation, enhancing the vehicle's handling and comfort; while carbon fiber frames, as one of the advanced frame materials currently available, are lightweight, high-strength, and have good rigidity, but are expensive and used only in a few electric vehicles.

It is worth mentioning that some companies have made new breakthroughs in frame technology. For example, Tailling Technology (Dongguan) Co., Ltd. obtained a patent for "frame and two-wheeled electric vehicle" in 2024, which incorporates the motor as a load-bearing component of the frame, effectively reducing the weight of two-wheeled electric vehicles and bringing new possibilities for improving vehicle performance and endurance.
